| We Are FSC Certified.What is FSC®? The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international body founded in 1993, which accredits certification organizations. The goal of FSC is to promote environmentally responsible, socially beneficial & economically viable management of the world's forests, by establishing a worldwide standard of recognized and respected Principles of Forest Stewardship. We are proud to have received our chain-of-custody (COC) certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This means that through the chain-of-custody process, we are able to provide our customers with FSC certified lumber products that satisfy LEEDS building requirements. We, at O'Shea Lumber, have always worked to promote the sustainable forestry practices. We realize that our role in the wood products industry requires us to support and maintain all the principles of sound environmental policies to insure ample resources for present and future generations. Our lumber is purchased from suppliers that have active reforestation programs, and share our environmental concerns harvesting their lumber accordingly. Only mature trees are cut, leaving other mature trees for seeding purposes, and smaller trees for future logging. We are committed to sustainable forest management, and we encourage the use of wood as an environmentally acceptable and renewable material. We have not and will not purchase lumber from any supplier involved in improper practices. We will continue to play an active role in supporting healthy forests and forestry practices.
